Automated document generation is the process of outputting individualized documents that use the same document templates. Think of repeatable documents, such as bills and customer communication. The same lay out, the same documents, but each individualized with the customer name, date, amount, address etc.
These templates are generally created in Microsoft Word and filled in with customer or other information manually; by copy-pasting information from databases, CRM systems, etc.
Document generation automation requires a clear template design (in Microsoft Word, etc.) with field codes. For example, if you design a template for monthly bills or statements and if you know where the name and the address of your customers will be, you can utilize field codes.
That way, each generated document will have the same lay out but have different customer names and address.
DocShifter’s document automation role here is to pull the information you want to add to the template (customer name, customer address, dates, etc.) and merge it with the template. You can also automatically output everything to a PDF file and send it to your CRM systems or e-mail repositories.

No, DocShifter does not allow template creation and editing. The templates need to be created and maintained by you. You can use the tools you are familiar with for this task; Microsoft Word, Open LibreOffice etc.
Our software helps you by taking the copy-paste (from databases into the templates) work out of the picture and outputs the final document to a file format of your choice.
Creating and editing templates is not handled by DocShifter.
